I've been following your blog for a while along with Peter and Kurt's, but haven't got into the pre and pro biotics. I have a question re your comment that these two things will replace antibiotics for the next generation. Isn't the reduction in death from infection thanks to antibiotics one of the key reasons the lifespan has increased in the past century?

I take prophylactic antibiotics (low IgA and IgG4 and often low neurtophils)and every couple of years stop to see how long it takes to get an infection (mostly sinus, sometimes lung within a couple of weeks). I will stop again in about 3 weeks and will go hard out on the jerusalem artichokes and onions etc in your talk.

While I have a specific interest because of my own health, I would be interested in your thoughts on this regardless of whether I had a good immune system or not.Joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13041487446368380496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-18327094994604572222011-03-30T07:00:08.752-07:002011-03-30T07:00:08.752-07:00Stephen,

I have been told to eat more of this by many doctors. They have recommended both. I am just curious as to your opinion on if one is more effective or healthier than the other. Also what is your opinion on vitamins in general?Morgiihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11488940088125726038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-85797453805578266982011-03-28T11:03:54.160-07:002011-03-28T11:03:54.160-07:00My wife and I teach birth classes (Bradley Method)...My wife and I teach birth classes (Bradley Method) and most expecting mothers are pleasantly surprised when we advocate butter, whole milk, and lots of protein.

When I teach nutrition in pregnancy I start "people are made of protein and fat, not carbs...since you are making a person, you must eat protein and fat!"

The scary part is a LOT of birth defects and premies are due to maternal malnutrition. I have also heard of babies having some issues even tho momma always took her prenatal vitamin...together with her oatmeal or bagel (phytic acid!)Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08038359855088467716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-50893365738240251542011-03-28T10:39:33.311-07:002011-03-28T10:39:33.311-07:00I wonder if anyone has given you the link to the N...I wonder if anyone has given you the link to the NPR story 'How Western Diets Are Making The World Sick'!! To force it to do that, you could right-click and choose Save Link As. Assuming that that works, you can open it with your MP3 player of choice.Ownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02833048375719147218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-59583570436618141892011-03-27T17:45:26.060-07:002011-03-27T17:45:26.060-07:00When I tried the podcast link, it crashed Firefox ...When I tried the podcast link, it crashed Firefox (3.6.16)...JBGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04335845681080553536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-8261365417273704412011-03-27T10:58:10.990-07:002011-03-27T10:58:10.990-07:00You can in fact download the podcast without iTune...You can in fact download the podcast without iTunes.Ownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02833048375719147218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-56287464419807801372011-03-27T10:55:25.792-07:002011-03-27T10:55:25.792-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ownerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02833048375719147218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-80545692495481897712011-03-27T04:59:20.282-07:002011-03-27T04:59:20.282-07:00wow, its interestwow, its interestRakzterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05307904833675120476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-50083153454589208462011-03-26T18:00:28.290-07:002011-03-26T18:00:28.290-07:00Congratulations Stephan, I look forward to listeni...Congratulations Stephan, I look forward to listening to it.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03779597140360820040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1629175743855013102.post-33007520765993837652011-03-26T17:03:25.886-07:002011-03-26T17:03:25.886-07:00Stephan:
